All about us
History
Backyard Potential LLC was created to fill a need for homeowners. Namely, homeowners needed help with large projects such as digging, stacking, dredging felling trees, bucking logs, milling lumber and even mowing.

While working on his own property, Jeff purchased a little, used Kubota BX23 from a local dealer. He used this little tractor to mow, trench, grade and rake his 1.5 acre property. And then came the trees. Owner several saws, fell around thirty 120 foot fir trees and bucked them. And the little Kubota was used to skid and stack the logs for drying. He then used his portable chainsaw mill to slab lumber for garden boxes and other projects around his property.

Additionally, Jeff rented a 5 ton excavator to push over the remaining trees and remove all the stumps. He used this machine to pile the stumps and then ran out of rental time. He asked himself “Why put all the money into a rental when I can own.”
Jeff began the search for a 5 ton excavator, a trailer, and a truck to pull it all. With the machine he purchase 3 buckets and an auger. Jeff began to see the potential in his backyard. The potential to remove all the stumps from his property, to buck all the logs up, to grade and install grass and a rock wall. What if other people had backyard with similar potential?
Jeff planned his company to see the potential for his neighbors to have expanded backyards, proper drainage, gravel driveways, etc. Therefore, the plan for the business was to provide residential excavation services to his community.
Experience
Jeff has seen and participated in all phases of residential construction. He started running equipment with his dad back in the ’70’s. He did framing, drywall, and roofing in the 90’s. In 2000’s, he owned a hardwood flooring business for 10 years. After 10 years with the Boeing Company, Jeff has returned to his roots of running outdoor machinery to fulfill a lifelong dream of being a heavy equipment operator.
Jeff prefers to put money back into the community he is working and living in. The company receives many calls to buy products from national chains. However, suppliers are sourced from local companies first. For instance, if the customer lives down the road from a local landscape supplier, Jeff will most likely give the supplier first bid on a project.
