A litttle about what we do

Backyard Potential LLC specializes in “Residential Excavation”.

Residential Excavation is a very broad term covering everything from digging a pond to helping install a retaining wall. One week we may put in a driveway, the next we may be pushing down trees.

Backyard potential has small equipment, however, sometimes we rent even smaller equipment to fit the job. We rent quality products from local companies. Birch Equipment Rental is currently our go-to for small equipment.

Until next time. Oh. This is the new website. Things will change daily. Make sure to come back often.

Recent Drain Stuff

Around here in the PNW, we have some major water problems going on with our properties. It is better to have your drain pipes cleaned rather than removed and replaced. Do your pipes look like this:

Pretty blocked drains. A periodic cleaning with jetting equipment can keep things flowing.

Driveways

Driveway on the right was for a customer. Driveway on the left was doctored up while I was there.

I recently completed a few driveways. 2 in Oak Harbor and one on Camano Island. Driveways on hills are a bit more complicated around this area. Compensating for water drainage is not always a simple thing. Slight crown in the middle with a run-off on each side is part of the equation. There has to be a place for the water to go. Sometimes, it is necessary to install drains and pipe and the base of the hill to route water around homes. But, that is for another day.

Deer All Around Us

On occasion, I get to see a little bit of the wildlife.

Paying my Dues

June was a month of fixing equipment. Both trucks had to be repaired. The tractor had to be repaired. Timing was actually perfect. Excavator was stranded on a large dredging project.

Rapping up a few things

July was a month of wrapping up some things. We finished a garage pad, repaired equipment, and started the process of moving our gear to Northern Idaho.

August 2022

We are still moving the business to Northern Idaho. Still shutting things down in Western Washington. We have one more little job to wrap up and then it is moving time.

We hope to be in Idaho and ready to work by October 2022. That is just a month away. If you need to get something done before the Winter weather sets in, just send an email or call. (jeff@backyardpotentialllc.com and 208-210-6143)

When we get to Idaho, the phone number will change. I’ll post the new number here.

October 2022

Hey! Where did September go? Actually, October is almost gone as well.

We made it Idaho.

We are currently setting up the business for Northern Idaho. Our service area includes the Greater Coeur d’ Alene area. The phone number is now 208-210-6143. Below are some pics of work done prior to our Washington exit:

Getting in Done in North Idaho 2023

We finally got going in North Idaho. One of largest projects we completed for 2023 was for Vital Ground. The project was up near Nordman Idaho. The project was to remove the old home and restore the property to an upper meadow.

Idaho 2024

We completed several small projects in 2024. If you have a small project, feel free to give us a call.

Northern Idaho 2025

This year, we have been back to doing small projects. If you have a small project, give us a call.

Winter 2025-2026

Winter Time starts early in Northern Idaho. We’ve started doing a few handyman items. First one was a roof patch. This was to keep the home dried in while the homeowner waited for the insurance company to get the roof properly repaired.

The next projects we have is to do some interior painting, some flooring, setting some cabinets, and some trim. That should keep us through the rest of the year.

If you have some handyman projects we can help you with, please give us a call.
